SYRV Nica II Crew Returns to US 08/22/2009
August 14, 2009 Another amazing group returned from SYRV’s Nicaragua Surf Yoga Volunteer Adventure! 18 hearts full of passion, excitement and fun joined us to Jiquilillo & San Juan del Sur. This time around we received over 1500 lbs of donations from Hard Tail, SANUK, Adidas, Secret Serenity, RVCA and several individual donators. In addition we raised funds to supply another school water purifier, school supplies, bio sand filters, food for the families at the dump yard and more! We completed the following volunteer projects on this past adventure: Water purifier and shelter at Padres Ramos school supplying clean water for 200 students and their families Provided computers to St Theresa & Padres Ramos schools (SYRV installed electricity to Padres Ramos school and pays the monthly electrical bill for the computer to stay in use) School photo’s for over 200 students at St Theresa & Padres Ramos schools Clean Beach & Ocean presentations & trash can donations to over 400 students at St Theresa & Padres Ramos schools School supply donations to Jiquilillo, St Theresa & Padres Ramos schools Surfboard donation and lessons to the kids of Jiquilillo Fed the children at the Chinandega dump yard Provided clothes and shoes to over 300 children and adults at the Chinandega Dump Yard New light weight bio sand filter to the Newton Foundation in San Juan del Sur Provided school donations to the mobile library in San Juan del Sur A big thank you to our hosts, donators and volunteer travelers- HOSTS Jay Co, Don (Ella & Fabi) Montgomery, Gerry Caseres, Luis Navarro, Mario Benavides, Fidel Pavon, & Jane Mirandette DONATORS Hard Tail, SANUK, RVCA, Secret Serenity, Mr. Foley, Ms. Mauro, Tim O, Jay C, Kerry G, Brooke S, Satya R, Erik T, Mallory S, Danica D, Amber K, Lara H, Juli S, Drew Z, Jeff B, Erin K, Jason R, Sylavania L, Shaun S, Linda B, Jo D/Adidas, Jeffrey R, Adria & Steven, John K, Cindy C, Nelly T, Sven A, Monica W, Mary D and Jay Co’s students from the SYRV donation classes!.
